Here at AudioSuede, we have several running Features that we like to update from time to time. For those uninitiated, here’s an explanation, or a link to an explanation, for each:
-The AudioSuede Book Club
For a thorough explanation of this series, click here. The AudioSuede staff features some of the best books we’ve ever read about music.
-From the Shelf
AudioSuede founder Christian Hagen owns a lot of albums he’s never listened to before. Whether from label submissions, random giveaways in record stores/coffee shops, “gifts” from friends (people just give him the crap they don’t want), or an unhealthy spending habit, he’s been buried in too much random music. In this series, he finally wipes off the dust and breaks the seal on albums he’s never had the urge (or the guts) to examine before. Sometimes, the results are illuminating. Usually, they’re just painful.
-Genre Watch
Started and maintained by Daniel Wipert, Genre Watch introduces our readers to new or emerging or unusual genres that are breaking through in the music scene.
-Indie Trends
At the start of each month, Chris Polley goes back over the past month’s releases and looks for recurring sounds, themes, or directions in the world of indie, occasionally having to make up terms to describe his connections but always providing thorough, insightful, and worthwhile analysis of the independent music world. The first entry includes a more detailed explanation of the feature.
-New Track Roundup
We look at some of the most buzzworthy new tracks circling the web or the radio, uncovering gems and showcasing the brightest new talents and the most interesting new releases from your favorite bands.
-Reclaiming the 90s
We revisit, examine, and defend some of our favorite artists from the 1990s that might have gotten a bad reputation or who were unfairly treated by the mainstream rock press. This series was started by Dan Wipert in March 2010 with a defense of Third Eye Blind’s Blue.
